


Intro to Watercolors Workshop
When: Wednesday, Oct. 1, 6-8 PM in the AOA Twiford Room
Cost: $50 per person
Let’s begin a watercolor adventure together! We’ll go over the basics like mixing and water control. We’ll also dive into some of the technique unique to watercolor like how to paint wet into wet, dry brushing, and lifting. We’ll also talk about how to add some texture using splats of paint or water for back-run or cauliflower effects.

Supplies
Bring what you have or check Hobby Lobby, Jerry’s Artarama (Virginia Beach location) or Amazon.com for the following items:
Watercolor paints - preferable Winsor and Newton Cottman or better
A watercolor palette or plastic/ceramic dish to mix colors (something from home will do!)
Watercolor paper - preferably 100% cotton, size 9x12 or 11x14 + more for practice
Watercolor brushes, prefer sizes 6, 8 and 12 round and 1/2” flat
A larger wash brush, like an 1” or 2” flat or Hake brush
Spray bottle - optional but worth it
Paper towels and/or something to dab your brush on (a regular hand towel will do)
Artist or painter’s tape
Something hard and flat to tape your paper to (a sturdy cardboard, plastic, or wood board).
