Adult Vocal Bootcamp

Step up your training!  This vocal bootcamp hits everything you need to increase your vocal skills and build good habits for your voice.  Take the entire course, or pop in on a session you know you need.  Vocal warmup and practice is included in each session. Q+A will be schedule for the last part of each session. Those registered for the entire* bootcamp will submit 3 song choices that they’d like to work on during the course.  The 9th week will be used to showcase the pieces worked on, and family and friends are invited to attend.

The class will meet weekly on Mondays from 6-8 PM from June 16–August 4, with a showcase taking place on August 11.

*Those participating in the full bootcamp should submit 3 song choices with their registration to work on and present during this course.

June 16-Vocal Anatomy and Health/What Affects the Voice
Know your instrument, how it works, and how to keep it healthy; singing as a whole body activity; unexpected things that can affect the voice

June 23-Registers vs Resonance/Genre and Style Exploration
Learn the difference between registers and resonance and how it affects genres and singing styles

June 30-Breath Control and Increasing Vocal Range
Breathing and why it matters/increasing breath capacity and control; tips and exercises to increase vocal range

July 7-Basic Music Theory for Singers
What a vocalist needs to know to effectively communicate with accompanists, band mates, sound techs, and other musical professionals

July 14-Building Vocal Strength and Agility 
Exercises and tips for finding and strengthening weak spots and building vocal agility/belting and vocal runs

July 21-Imitation and Improvisation
Exploring what your voice is capable of

July 28-Dynamics, Expression, Storytelling, Stage Presence
Make your performances interesting and engaging

Aug 4-Full Vocal Workout/Microphone Technique
Breathing, loosening and stretching the voice; singing with a microphone

Aug 11-Showcase
Those who have registered for the entire bootcamp will present the pieces they have been working on for invited family and friends.
