Sewing 101 Camp

Date: Week 1 (July 8th & 10th), Week 2 (July 15th & 17th), Week 3 (July 22 & 24th)

***Note this camp only takes place on Tuesdays/Thursdays for three consecutive weeks.

Time: 1-3PM

Grades: 4th-12th

Instructor: Mary Cherry

Location: Water St Studio (115 N. Water St)

Ready to stitch up something special this summer? In this hands-on camp students will learn essential sewing skills that unlock a world of creativity and self expression. Whether brand new to sewing or looking to sharpen your skills, campers will explore;

  • How to thread and operate a sewing machine

  • Basic hand sewing techniques

  • Reading and understanding patterns

  • Taking accurate body measurements

  • Working with woven fabrics

  • Constructing simple garments like A-line skirts and adding sleeves

By the end of camp, students will confidently sew a sleeve into a garment and install a zipper - skills they’ll use repeatedly in life. Perfect for young designers and makers eager to bring their ideas/designs to life!

Campers should wear comfortable, moveable clothing they don’t mind getting a little messy. Please send a water bottle and a snack each day to keep your camper energized and hydrated!
